La Crosse is one of five finalists to host the Milwaukee Bucks' new D-League basketball team.
According to the Appleton Post-Crescent, La Crosse joins Racine, Oshkosh, Sheboygan and Grand Chute as finalists. There is no known timetable for when the Bucks will decided which community will get the team.
La Crosse Center Director Art Fahey said he hasn't had any conversations with the Bucks though, and believes that only five teams submitted a request for proposal by the June 20 deadline.
The Bucks' goal is to have a team within a few hours drive of Milwaukee in place by fall 2017.
