UPDATE: La Crescent stabbing suspect waives extradition

The 27-year-old La Crosse man charged in connection with a stabbing in La Crescent last week waived his extradition to Minnesota on Tuesday.

Because Kasten was taken for medical treatment in La Crosse and placed in police custody, he must be extradited to Houston County where the stabbing took place.


The 27-year-old La Crosse man accused of stabbing a woman, 3-year-old child, pit bull and himself is awaiting extradition in La Crosse County Jail.

Sean Kasten is facing multiple charges, including attempted homicide, assault and animal endangerment.

La Crescent Police Chief Doug Stavenau tells News 19 Kasten is awaiting extradition to Houston County. Chief Stavenau said Kasten has the option to waive or fight extradition.
