The inmate who escaped custody from the Fillmore County Jail Monday night has been apprehended.
Dylan Bathke, 19, was arrested in Rochester at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday by Rochester police and the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement Team.
Bathke was taken into custody without incident.
Sheriff Kaase said that he will review how this escape happened so they can prevent a situation like this in the future.
"Obviously, we've had a breakdown in our policies and procedures and we'll be assessing, reviewing all that, also our facility, to make sure in the future that we don't have incidences like this," said Sheriff Kaase.
Sheriff Tom Kaase said Bathke was unaccounted for during breakfast wake up at Fillmore County Jail at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday. Officials determined that Bathke had escaped.
Bathke was being held on motor vehicle theft, 2nd degree assault, terroristic threats, and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle charges. He was arrested about three weeks ago after leading a police chase in a stolen vehicle, and crashing into a squad car.
