Nick Raquet allowed an unearned run in 7.2 innings and the La Crosse Loggers snapped a three-game skid with a 4-1 win over Thunder Bay on Thursday.
La Crosse (1-1, 18-20 overall) won its fifth game in six tries this season against the Border Cats. Raquet improved to 2-3 on the year, with both wins coming against Thunder Bay.
The Loggers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning after an errant throw to third base from Border Cats pitcher Joey Burris allowed Garrett Zech to score.
Cullen Large added a two-run single to left with two outs in the sixth inning to make it 3-0. Zech drove in Grant Fennell with a single in the eighth inning.
Raquet scattered seven hits and struck out seven in his outing. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in six of his seven starts this Northwoods League season.
The Loggers continue a four-game homestand Friday when they host Willmar at Copeland Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
