Justin Wylie scored the game-winning run after some heads-up baserunning and the La Crosse Loggers beat the Willmar Stingers 7-6 in 10 innings on Saturday.
La Crosse (2-2, 19-21 overall) rallied from a 5-0 deficit early against the first-place Stingers, scoring two runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to tie the game 6-6.
With Wylie on first base and nobody out in the 10th, Lorenzo Hampton Jr. laid down a sacrifice bunt. Wylie never stopped running, noticing there was no one covering third base. Willmar threw the ball away, allowing Wylie to easily come home.
La Crosse began chipping away at the deficit in the fourth. Grant Fennell drove in Conine with a sac fly, then Kyle Plantier doubled in Cullen Large.
With the score 5-2 in the eighth, Collard singled in Large to make it 5-3 before Jake Hirabayashi singled in Collard with two outs.
Willmar scored a run in ninth, but Kevin Collard tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the frame with a 2-run single to right field.
La Crosse now begins a busy road stretch, playing 14 of the next 17 games away from Copeland Park.
