Loggers drop series opener at St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, MN (WXOW) - -

Mason McCoy went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI but the La Crosse Loggers fell to the St.Cloud Rox 5-3 on Sunday night.

La Crosse (2-3, 19-22 overall) scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead, but gave up two in the sixth and another in the seventh to drop its sixth-straight road game.

McCoy singled in Justin Wylie in the fifth inning before an error by the left fielder allowed Randy Labaut to also cross home. Jake Hirabayashi later scored an unearned run to give La Crosse a 3-2 lead.

The Rox (3-1, 27-12 overall) re-gained the lead on a two-out single by Drew Freedman in the sixth.

The series continues Monday night in St. Cloud. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
