North Stars continue to shine

Posted: Updated:

Two weeks ago, the La Crosse North Stars were not ranked in the American Legion state poll.

On Monday, the Stars became the top-ranked team in Class AA, and later improved to 16-1 on the season with a 16-7 win over North Crawford.

La Crosse won the Onalaska Tournament over the weekend, beating host Onalaska in the championship game. With two weeks remaining before the postseason, the team is hoping to continue playing at a high level.

"We're just going to try and keep hitting the way we have, play defense the way we have," head coach Kyle Sime said. "Even though the last couple games we haven't scored a whole lot of runs, we've had 8, 9, 10 hits every game. We're hitting the ball hard, we're playing really good defense, pitching is great, I think we only had to use one reliever this weekend in a 5-game tournament. It just shows that our pitching is working out for us."
