There will be no sneaking-up on teams for the UW-La Crosse volleyball team.
The element of surprise is gone, but that's a good thing.
The Eagles return four starters and 12 letterwinners from a team that tied for the WIAC title last fall.
It was a major turnaround for a program that was just 1-7 in conference play the year before.
But now the word is out and the Eagles are embracing the challenge.
I think we are more on the radar but, again, we got picked fourth for the conference preseason standings. So I think people still pay more attention to UW-Whitewater and UW-Stevens Point. So, while we'll be a little more on people's radar, I think we still get overlooked a little bit," said head coach Lily Hallock.
"Personally, I feel like we're going to be better than fourth. I think from the ranking they just didn't know where to put us because we went from last to first. But I think we're better than fourth," said outside hitter Stephanie Henk.
The Eagles open the season September 2 at the Elmhurst College Invitational.
They're first home game is September 14 against Viterbo.
