Osseo (WQOW) - An area man and his dog are turning tragedy into a road to recovery for other dogs two wheels at a time.
Jason Parker, founder of Gunnar's Wheels, is collecting and donating wheel carts to dogs with a physical disability at no cost to their owners.
News 18 first introduced you to Gunnar's Wheels, nearly two years ago, when Parker's dog, Gunnar, received his new set of wheels. Gunnar was partially paralyzed after being hit by a car. Parker said with an overwhelming amount of support nationwide for Gunnar, he wanted to help other dogs regain their quality of life with their own set of wheels.
"It's for the animals. That's what gives me the joy,” Parker said. “I know how much joy Gunnar has given me in the two years since his accident. And, I want other people to experience that same joy."
Parker said his next recipient, a chocolate lab in Eau Claire, will receive his wheel cart in early September. With the help of Gofundme, Parker is hoping to collect at least 50 carts by spring 2017.
