35 people gathered in Winona's Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday to celebrate the life of Baby Angel.
Monday marks five years since Baby Angel was found in the Mississippi River by a Winona family. However, her memory has been very much kept alive by members of the Winona community. At Monday's memorial service, people sang along to hymns such as "Amazing Grace" and took a moment to reflect on how precious life is.
Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude said that this tragic event has helped the Winona community rally together.
"This has been an incident that has touched a lot of hearts and lives. I think that people do remember and want to keep the remembrance going. It's a celebration of life for the rest of us and for some of us, we'd like some closure to the case," said Ganrude.
Baby Angel's case is still unsolved and the community is asking for answers. If anyone has information related to the Baby Angel case, contact the Winona Police Department.
