La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

La Crosse's 56th Annual Oktoberfest celebration kicks off in just over two weeks. But the festivities are already underway.

Wednesday night the Oktoberfest family unveiled the two newest members of their 2016 royal fest family, the parade marshals.

The 2016 Torchlight Parade Marshal is northsider Louie Ferris. The 86-year-old has lived in the same La Crosse home all his life.

"I feel good about representing the Northside. The Northside has a good representative. That was part of the secret weapon they had to get me into it why to tell me, 'you know, you are representing the Northside," Ferris said. Over the years he's been active throughout the La Crosse community. That includes serving at VFW Commander, president of the Korean War Veterans Association and as an active member of the Hmong Assistance Task Force in La Crosse.

Ferris said everything he does, he gives 100 percent and that includes his new role as an Oktoberfest parade marshal.

The 2016 Maple Leaf Parade Marshal is Brad Quarberg. Quarberg has worked for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for 32 years and now serves as the Director of News and Marketing.

He is also a 12-year member of the Oktoberfest Parade Committee and said he is honored to lead the Maple Leaf Parade this year.

"I had my first Oktoberfest in 1981 when I first came here to college and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be leading the parade one day," Quarberg said.

Oktoberfest officially kicks off on September 29 and goes through October 2. The Torchlight Parade is Thursday, September 29 and the Maple Leaf Parade is Saturday morning October 1.
