Posted: Updated:
La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

The hunt for the Oktoberfest Medallion is over.

Despite the rainy weather, the Medallion was found on the Northside of La Crosse Wednesday evening according to fest officials.

A group of about 30 people helped track it down.

We'll learn how they found the Medallion Friday. That's when fest officials said is the soonest the majority of the group can get together.

The winners get gift certificates, fest merchandise, and a replica medallion.

It's part of the tradition of Oktoberfest in La Crosse: The annual Oktoberfest Medallion Hunt.

We'll provide the clues each morning so you can help find where the medallion is.

The lucky winner gets gift certificates, Oktoberfest merchandise, cash, and a replica medallion.

There are some rules for the hunt:

The 2016 Oktoberfest Medallion:

  • is always located within the La Crosse city limits
  • is never buried in the ground
  • is always on publicly-accessible property
  • is accessible 24 hours, BUT posted hours should be observed
  • fits in the palm of a hand
  • may be camouflaged

Here's Clue #1:

As the days get shorter there’s a chill in the air,
Listen carefully as each medallion clue helps you prepare;
Family, friends, and fun promised in 2016,
All while the leaves begin changing from green.

Here's Clue #2

Chicago, Santa Fe, Milwaukee, Green Bay and others,
Served so much more than wayfaring voyageurs;
Throughout the years they merged and disappeared,
Only two remain among the engineered.

Here's Clue #3

Born with humble beginnings and later known as ‘Black Jack,’
Survived many a Mexican and Southern attack;
Started as Cameron but later came this change,
Eventually lasting through even a building exchange.
