Drug charges are pending following the arrest of two people Friday in La Crosse.
Authorities including La Crosse Police, West Central Metropolitan Enforcement Group, Onalaska Police, and La Crosse County Emergency Response Team raided three locations in La Crosse and Onalaska.
At one of the locations, 1206 West Avenue South #3, police arrested Douglas "Martell" Owens, 33 and Juanita Owens, 38. In a statement, La Crosse Police said they also searched the Owens' Candy Shop at 1201 10th Avenue South in La Crosse and their permanent address of 854 12th Avenue South in Onalaska.
Among the drugs seized were heroin, methamphetamine, and ecstasy. The value of the drugs was estimated at $14,300.
The statement said as officers were entering the apartment, Juanita Owens tried to hide drugs on her body. A subsequent search at a local hospital found 52.8 grams of crack cocaine, 31.4 grams of powder cocaine, and 10.3 grams of heroin worth about $10,500 according to police.
The drug charges against the two include conspiracy to deliver heroin and cocaine, along with possession of marijuana, cocaine, and heroin.
The statement said the arrests were part of an ongoing drug conspiracy case involving multiple defendants. Authorities said more arrests related to the conspiracy are coming.
