The students at La Crosse's Lincoln Middle School hosted an assemble to raise awareness on compassion. As October is Bullying Awareness Month, the assembly provided a forum for students and teachers to hear from multiple speakers, storytellers and musical acts with a focus on extending kindness to others.
According to student counselor Rick Blasing, the event can find ways to extend compassion to others.
"The goal, especially in these times we live, I guess you could say the state of the world, is to have our students understand what compassion is. What it means, in the classroom, the hallways, the lunchroom, the playground," he added.
The assembly and it's theme "Living Compassion: Real Life Stories and Human Kindness" was funded by a La Crosse Public Education Foundation grant.
