Mike Schmidt is just one of two coaches in UW-La Crosse football history to begin their first season with four straight wins.
Howard Johnson is the other one, he did it in 1930.
Getting off to fast starts has been a huge reason why the Eagles are 4-0.
They've scored 129 points on offense and given up just 7 on defense in the opening two quarters alone.
Certainly, every team wants to get off to a fast star and at UW-L they've noticed the value of jumping out to quick leads, something they haven't done in recent years.
"It's just a mentality thing. You need to come out and be ready to dominate the game and every aspect of the game offensively and defensively. We've done a good job of that so far. It's really a mentality thing to come out here and be ready to play and bring that energy and attitude to the field," said Eagles quarterback Tarek Yaeggi.
"Setting the tone early is everyhting, especially against good the good opponents we got coming up and the guys we've faced so far. Getting out early and setting the tone, establishing our offense and defense is huge," said linebacker Peter Krien.
The Eagles hope to continue their trend of starting fast this Saturday when they travel to Menomonie to play UW-Stout.
That's a 2 PM kickoff.
