Vernon County residents have the opportunity to learn about the problems with drugs and drug found in their communities at an upcoming event next week.
The Coon Valley Lions and Vernon County Sheriff's Department will be hosting a drug forum Wednesday, October 19 at 6 p.m. at the Village Hall in Coon Valley.
Sheriff John Spears said it's a good opportunity to come and get information about what's going on in the community.
"It's open to the public. We're going to have a panel of people there to discuss drugs in the community and what they can do. It's a very good forum. We've done it in the past and we're hoping for a good turnout. They will have refreshments being served and it is open to people of all ages," said Spears.
The panel will include five experts stories and experiences followed by an open question and answer period.
"Usually on the panel we'll have myself, we'll have the District Attorney, we'll have drug investigators, we'll have the judge. We'll have usually a family member of someone who's been either critically touched by drug use or they've lost a family member due to drug overdose," said Spears.
Middle and high school age students and their parents are encouraged to attend.
