Butch Haines rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns, and the Red Hawks defense held the Panthers in check most of the night as G-E-T beat West Salem 34-13 in the Division 4 Level 2 playoffs Friday night.
The Red Hawks (10-1) will host St. Croix Central next Friday in Level 3.
"It just feels amazing. The first time we played them we came out really slow, and tonight I would have liked to come out faster," Haines said. "We know they're a good football team but we just came out physical - especially because we were wound up because of what happened last time, so we just came out ready to play and we just started wearing them down right away."
G-E-T scored on its first three drives of the night, including 1 10-play, 70-yard drive to open the game as Ben Behan scored on a short touchdown run.
Haines found the end zone on G-E-T's next two drives, scoring on runs of 11 yards and 12 yards, as the Red Hawks opened up a 22-7 lead in the second quarter.
West Salem did not convert a first down in the first half, but scored on a 75-yard kick return from Brent Heilman after G-E-T's second touchdown.
G-E-T got a defensive touchdown following Haines' second score, as Connor Jacobs intercepted Jake Whitbeck and returned it for a touchdown. The Red Hawks led 28-7 at halftime.
Haines added his third touchdown on G-E-T's first drive of the second half, capping a 8-play, 51-yard drive.
West Salem had its best offensive possession of the night on the ensuing drive, as Whitbeck connected with Braxton Ghelfi for a 54-yard touchdown to bring the Panthers within 34-13.
