The La Crosse Public Library is giving kids the chance to weigh in the electoral process.
Now until election day, they can cast their ballot for the new "president of children's room". The mock election started two weeks go with a primary election. Children narrowed down the candidates, their favorite books characters, to two that are now running in the general election.
Kids can head to the voting booth and the main street public library to cast their vote for "Piggie" or "Thea Stilton."
"This is a great way for parents to have those beginning conversations about elections, democracy, what it means to be an engaged citizen," Dana Johnson, youth services librarian said.
"Parents come and their like, 'okay, it's your responsibility to vote. Why don't we learn a little bit more about the candidates, why don't we see which one would be a better leader, who would represent us better," Johnson added.
109 kids voted in the library's primary election. Johnson to see even more votes by election day.
If your kids want to cast a ballot, head to the Main Street Public Library. Polls close November 8 at 8 p.m.
