Sam Schroeder had 11 kills and the Caledonia Warriors made quick work of Cook County in the Class A state volleyball quarterfinals Thursday in St. Paul.
Caledonia will play Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in the state semifinals at 3 p.m. Friday at Xcel Energy Center.
The Warriors took the opening set 25-11 after building a 10-1 lead. Set two was much closer, but Caledonia used a 9-point run to pull away and win 25-13.
In the third set, Caledonia led 11-4 early, then used a 6-2 run to close out the match.
"We always try and start out strong," Schroeder said. "Since we haven't ever seen them play we didn't know how it was going to go, but since it started out that way, we just kind of kept on it."
Madisyn Heaney added nine kills and five digs and Mariah Schroeder had eight kills and nine digs for Caledonia.
