UW-La Crosse led for almost the entire night on their way to a 72-59 win over cross town rival Viterbo in the annual Alumni Cup series.
It was a tight one for most of the way before the Eagles went on a 10-0 run early in the second half to seize control.
They led by as many as 17 points after a jumper by Ryan Kruser made it 59-42 with 5:39 left.
Zach Schradle led the way for UW-L with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Ben Meinholz had 17 points as well.
Erik Engelstad led the V-Hawks with 17 points.
"It's always nice playing against a La Crosse team. I'm from this area so I know both of these teams. It's always fun getting to play a La Crosse team. It's always a hard fought battle every time," said guard Clint Rihn, who finished with nine points for the Eagles.
"Off to a good start. They were 5-1 coming into this game playing some really good teams. So they played at a high level. I think they were ready and we had our hands full and we rose up to the challenge and I'm proud of that, and that's a good sign for us," said UW-L head coach Ken Koelbl.
The Eagles have now won the Alumni Cup 12 of the last 13 seasons.
UW-L is 2-0 while Viterbo falls to 5-2.
