The Great Rivers United Way is in the holiday spirit. Their campaign for this year is called One Day, 100 Books. The goal is to distribute 100 copies of "Recipes for Learning", a book aimed at helping caregivers develop a better connection with children through fun, simple and age appropriate activities.
"Sometimes you just have to stop and get a reminder," said GRUW's Executive Director Mary Kay Wolf. "...that you have so little time to make eye contact and to talk about the letter 'B' and teach them how to jump on one foot... I mean these are silly little simple things, but it's just a really really important reminder."
You can help by texting the word "4TUESDAY" to the number 41444 or going to their website. They ask for a donation of $20 and they hope to reach their goal by December 1st.
