Jake Hagler made the go-ahead 3 point basket with 15 seconds remaining, and the University of Jamestown rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Viterbo University 74-70 on Friday.
The Jimmies (6-6, 2-1 NSAA) made nine triples in the second half, and 13 for the game. Hagler made four of them.
Viterbo (6-6, 1-2 NSAA) held the potent Jamestown offense in check during the first half while shooting 53 percent from the field to lead 36-26 at halftime.
Jamestown closed the first half on a 4-0 run, then went on a 11-4 run in the first six minutes of the second half to tie the game 40-40.
The Jimmies built the lead to as many as six midway through the half before Viterbo started to chip away. Jake Bamke converted a tough layup with 1:06 to play to give the V-Hawks a 67-66 lead.
Jamestown answered with a pair of free throws to take the lead back, but then Ethan Haberman connected on a jumper from the baseline with 28 seconds to play.
Hagler received a pass in front of the Jimmies bench and hit the 3-pointer with 15 seconds remaining.
Viterbo had a chance to tie the game with 1 second left with Jared Fleischmann at the free throw line, but his intentional miss off the backboard did not touch the rim.
Erik Engelstad led Viterbo with 25 points. Fleischmann scored 10, and Haberman 9.
Viterbo now begins a 4-game road trip with a trip to Valley City State University next Friday.
