Those planning to visit Riverside Park can expect to see a lot of color.
The Center: 7 Rivers LGBTQ Connection is hosting the Annual PRIDE in the Park. The weekend-long event features music, food, merchandise, and entertainment. For more than 10 years, PRIDE in the Park has given the community a chance to celebrate acceptance. Four years ago, the event moved to Riverside Park. Organizers said the location change has helped spread inclusivity by attracting more people.
"I hope everyone sees how open, understanding, accepting that people are and that we're here to spread goodwill and pride," said Alesha Schandelmeier, Director of Outreach with 7 Rivers LGBTQ Connection.
Schandelmeier said the event is not just about pride in the LGBTQ community. It is about having pride in the La Crosse community.
The free event continues through Sunday, September 10 with a family picnic starting at 11 a.m.
