UPDATE: Name released in life threatening Monroe Co. ATV crash

UPDATE: The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is identifying the victim of the ATV crash as 58-year-old Ernest Martinez of Milwaukee.

Martinez suffered life threatening injuries after losing control of his ATV and being ejected off of the vehicle. 

The crash remains under investigation. 


An ATV accident Saturday night in Monroe County leaves one person with life threatening injuries.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened on Acorn Avenue near Basswood Road in the Town of Little Falls north of Cataract around 8:27 p.m. 

The caller said a person was thrown off a three wheel ATV and injured. The driver suffered head injuries when thrown from the ATV. 

The person was transported to Black River Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

The sheriff's office isn't releasing the name of the driver at this time as their investigation continues. 

A statement from the sheriff's office said that alcohol is a possible factor in the crash.
