After damage from Hurricane Irma was less than expected, firefighters from La Crosse and some soldiers from the region are on their way back to Wisconsin.
The state of Florida asked for members of Wisconsin's Urban Search and Rescue Task Force to assist with rescue and relief efforts on Sunday.
Six members of the La Crosse Fire Department were part of the task force.

Some 2,500 members of the Wisconsin National Guard were also headed to Florida at the state's request. Instead, that number was reduced to the 650 that have already arrived in the state.
Other troops in transit to Florida are headed back to Wisconsin while the remainder will stay here in the Badger State.
Members of the task force and guard were preparing and leaving from several places in the state including Camp Williams at Camp Douglas.
