The Eagles defense plays lights out in win over Stevens Point

Posted: Updated:

The Pointers are undefeated and have won the last three games against the Eagles.

First quarter, Mitchell Neubaur can't hold onto the football and Ryan Weber recovers the fumble for the Eagles.

A few plays later Trenten Smith pounds it in from the two yard line to put the Eagles on the board 7-0.

Next drive, Tarek Yaeggi goes deep Nick Holcomb who makes the catch for the score. UW-L is now up 13-0. Holcomb had two touchdowns this game.

Stevens Point is trying to make a comeback, but Cooper Kerner fumbles and Nicolas Peters comes away with it and that will be the end.

UWL wins 35-13 over Stevens Point to remain undefeated on the season.

"I just can't believe how well our defense played," Head Coach Mike Schmidt said. "To hold a team that is averaging over 500 yard a game in wideouts like they had to 75 yards throwing the ball, 170 yards of total offense, 5-21 throwing it what can you say more about how the defense played and that really set the tone for giving us good field position. We played great on special teams and the offense was able to cash it in when they had the opportunity. Great team victory."

" I think we did our job," Linebacker Jake Krueger said. "Played as a unit. It took everyone of us. We really believe in each other, trust each other out there, trust that the guy next to us is going to do what he is supposed to do and I think that showed tonight."
