The Vikings opened up NFC North play against the Lions. Aside from Vikings turnovers that cost them the game, the big news is star running back Dalvin Cook did not return after getting injured in the third quarter. Sources are reporting that the initial diagnosis was a complete ACL tear.
Latavius Murray stepped up to fill that position after the injury. Murray had 7 carries for 21 yards.
"DC is a hell of a runner, more so his morality, the persona he is bringing to the team," Vikings Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs said. " We believe in him always. It sucks to see him go down, but we also have to have the next man up mentality. We have a whole lot of football left, and I trust the guys we have back there, they will get the job done."
"You hate to see guys go down especially young guys that are playing so well and really coming into their own," Vikings Tight End Kyle Rudolph said. "Unfortunate that is part of our game. If you are around this game long enough, you are going to deal with it. You hate to see it, and I talked to him a little bit, and you got to be there for him. That's the worst part about our game, when you are hurt and you can't be out there for your team."
"I mean it's really tough especially when he's in the room that I'm in," Back-up Running Back Latavius Murray said. "Our relationship has grown, and you feel terrible. It's unfortunate, and I know this is the game we play but its unfortunate."
