UW-La Crosse men's basketball has their new floor general.
Kent Dernbach has been hired to coach the Eagles this season on an interim basis.
Dernbach served as UW-Stevens Point's interim head coach last season leading the Pointers to an 8-5 record.
Before that he was Stevens Point's associate head coach since 2011.
His familiarity with the UW-L and the WIAC will certainly aid the Eagles with the coaching transition.
"If this was a random position in a league I wasn't familiar with, at a school I did not believe in, I wouldn't have been as excited and I probably wouldn't have pursued it. Because it's in the WIAC, because it's at a premier institution like UW-L is, it made me excited to not only pursue it but pursue it really hard," Dernbach said.
Dernbach takes over for Ken Koelbl, who accepted a full time position in the Admissions Department at UW-La Crosse.
