UW-La Crosse head coach Mike Schmidt admitted there hasn't been much talk about the Eagles loss at Eau Claire last year.
Considering it is likely the toughest loss in Schmidt's brief tenure at UW-L there doesn't need to be.
To re-cap...the eagles were flying high with a 5-1 record last season when they went to Eau Claire..only to lose to a Blugolds team that had won just one game all season.
The 20-14 loss derailed the Eagles...who were on track to have a big season.
But UW-L never won a game the rest of the season.
"It kind of took a turn last year, Obviously. It's always been an important rivalry to me. It's always such a good match-up. I grew up watching it on TV and seeing the players that were in it and knowing the names. It sure takes on a little more meaning after what they did to us last year and taking that game from us," Schmidt said.
"That one hurt a lot. So I think this year we're going to make sure we take everything seriously. We're going to take care of the little things in practice all week and bring the energy and focus we need to the game on Saturday," said senior linebacker Noah Risch.
UW-Eau Claire has won seven of the last 10 in this series.
