Rescuers from the La Crosse Fire Department pulled a person from the Mississippi River Monday afternoon.
Police received a report around 3:13 p.m. of the person in the water in the middle of the channel south of the Cass Street Bridge.
The fire department quickly placed two boats in the water, one of which pulled the person from the water.
The person was taken ashore and transported by Tri-State Ambulance to a La Crosse hospital for further evaluation.
The identity of the person was not released.
Its not clear yet whether how the person ended up in the water.
