The City of Onalaska is looking to fill a growing need for paid-on-call firefighters.
Residents in Onalaska may have noticed something extra on their water bills: a note asking anyone interested to consider joining Onalaska's fire department. The city says it's not in a bad place yet, but if the trend continues residents could be looking at higher insurance rates as a result.
"This is our first kind of step towards that, to encourage people to come aboard," said Onalaska Mayor Joe Chilsen. "You'll never get a part time job that is as fulfilling as this one is."
Mayor Chilsen says anyone who has interest should contact either the Onalaska Fire Department or the mayor himself. You can visit Onalaska City Hall for more information.
