For the first time this season, the Eagles are preparing for a game after a loss.
Things won't get any easier this Saturday when UW-La Crosse hosts third-ranked UW-Oshkosh.
Not only that but they'll have to do it without their starting quarterback Tarek Yaeggi, who went down with a shoulder injury at Whitewater last week.
Drew David steps in.
He has two career starts under his belt, plus he led the Eagles to their only two touchdowns against a tough Whitewater defense.
"I wouldn't say the offense changes at all. Coach has been saying a lot that I have a little more speed and I run a little more than Tarek. He has some things throwing that he does a little better than me. So I wouldn't say there will changes at all but there might be some adjustments," David said.
"The biggest thing is that Drew comes in and finished the drive for us (against Whitewater) which is very hard to do. To come in the middle of a drive, it's not like he had the luxury of starting a drive or getting a fresh start. He comes in and finishes the drive and scores for us. He did a lot of things very well. The guys around him need to make plays. That's really the message this week," said UW-L head coach Mike Schmidt.
UW-L hopes to have Yaeggi back next week from his shoulder injury.
The 5-1 Eagles take on the 6-0 Titans at two o'clock Saturday at Harring Stadium.
