Central falls to top-seeded Menomonie

Posted: Updated:

A rough night for the Central Red Raiders who took on top-seeded Menomonie in Division 2 action Friday night.

Central tried an onside kick on the opening kickoff but the Mustangs weren't fooled and they recovered the ball. Six plays later, their leading rusher Justin Evans goes in from the one to give Menomonie an early 7-0 score.

Evans had 13 carries for 123 yards on the night. Overall, Menomonie tallied 289 yards through the run.

Although Central did score twice, they couldn't keep up with the Mustangs, who go on to a 45-14 win.

Menomonie hosts Holmen in the next round of the playoffs.
