More volleyball excitement is coming to Viterbo University.
The school announcing Tuesday that it will add men's volleyball to athletic department.
It becomes the eight men's sport on campus and 16th overall.
The team will begin play in January of 2019.
Dave Simon was also named the men's coach Tuesday.
Simon has been an assistant with the Viterbo women's program and also spent five seasons as the head women's coach at Winona State.
Starting a program from scratch is something he's looking forward to.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge of starting a new program. It's not something every head coach gets to do. You're either taking over a program, whether it be successful or unsuccessful and you trying to change things. Here you get to start new. It's a blank slate," Simon said.
The addition of men's volleyball helped in part by a $10,000 grant from the Motor MVB Foundation, which helps drive the growth of boys and men's volleyball nationwide.
