The Eagles will take their third shot in a row at knocking off a conference power.
They're oh-for-two so far after dropping close games to Whitewater and Oshkosh.
This Saturday UW-La Crosse travels to 9th-ranked UW-Platteville.
There's a strong connection to the Plattteville program.
Head coach Mike Schmidt was an assistant coach there and defensive coordinator Matt Janus played and coached for the Pioneers.
The Eagles are hoping some inside knowledge will help.
"I think it's going to help knowing the situation, knowing the environment we're running into. They play really well at home. Coach Janus has been there and played for Coach Emendorfer which is certainly going to help scheme-wise. But ultimately it comes down to the players making the plays on the field," said Schmidt.
"They're going to be chucking the ball all over the place. They (Coach Schmidt and Coach Janus) have a great depth of knowledge their releases from their receivers, what their tendencies are, when they're going to run the ball and pass the ball. So it really does give us a lot of help," said safety Peter Kissling.
The Eagles might have Tarek Yaeggi back at quarterback.
Schmidt said he's a game-time decision with that injured shoulder.
Otherwise, Drew David will make his second straight start.
David threw for 414 yards against Oshkosh last week.
