Former Minnesota Governor, Republican Tim Pawlenty, is poised to run for Senator Al Franken's senate seat pending Franken's resignation.
Some members of the GOP believe Pawlenty is their best chance to take a senate seat in a state that is largely democratic.
Pawlenty is currently a high powered banking lobbyist, and hasn't been on the national stage since 2012 when he ran for President of the United States. It has also been 11 years since Pawlenty has ran for office in Minnesota, and is the latest republican politician to win an election in Minnesota.
A comeback bid for Pawlenty will test whether he fits into the current GOP era.
