The UW- La Crosse men's basketball team has surprised many people so far this season as Interim Head Coach Kent Durnbach took over this year, not much was expected from the young Eagles. However, heading into their second conference game, the Eagles are sitting at 9-3 overall.
They put up a fight against # 7 ranked UW-Oshkosh on Saturday evening, but the Titans came away with the win 72-65. Interim Head Coach Kent Dernbach says they couldn't defend the paint.
" They were able to get the ball in the paint with consistency," Dernbach said. " We weren't able to get deflections on their post entry, and when they were looking to go high low ultimately that broke our back. We did enough to give ourselves a chance to win, but when we really needed a big stop they were able to go inside. When we came down on our end, we made some big plays, but we just didn't make enough offensively to overcome what they were able to do to us in the paint."
