UW-La Crosse proves what they are capable of with win over #3 ranked UW-Oshkosh

The UW- La Crosse Eagles focused on their tough defense when it came to the victory over the third ranked team in the country last Saturday.

The Eagles held the Titans to 51 points and 31 percent from the floor which is well below their average of 60 percent. Their main defensive focus is rebounding as the Eagles are out-rebounding their opponents by an average of 8.2.

Head Coach Karen Middleton believes that this team has the opportunity to beat anyone, and their win over UW-Oshkosh proved that.

" With a lot of trust in each other, sharing the basketball, we had a really good day, and Oshkosh is obviously a very good team but it was a great coming together day for us," Head Coach Karen Middleton said.

" I think that coming off of a loss, we really bounced back," Senior Forward Elise Denoyer said. " We really wanted to buy into what she was saying and just work for each other. We really played for each other out there, and I think that is the most important if we believe, then we got the W."

" We came out with a lot of heart," Sophomore Dani Craig said. " We had a couple bad losses after break, and I think we just went out there and played as hard as we can. We really bought into what the coaches were saying about each of them, and we just tried to play as hard as we can, and we got the W."

As the Eagles move forward in conference, one of the main adjustments the team has to make in order to be successful is limiting turnovers.

" Learning to put ourselves in good situations to pass before a double comes, to be strong with it in certain situations, have eyes open and have better vision, and to try and create those scenarios in practice so that when games come it is really easy. Obviously, put an emphasis on it like we have been doing just to make sure we are valuing every possession and making sure we are taking care of it."

UW- La Crosse hosts UW- Stevens Point on Wednesday at 7 pm.
