Fire leaves Black River Falls area couple out of their home

A fire Monday evening near Black River Falls leaves a couple without a home.

Black River Falls Fire Department Chief Steve Schreiber said that firefighters were called about 8:30 p.m. for a fire at N7624 County E in the Town of Adams about three miles northeast of Black River Falls.

One of the people living in the two-story residence drove into Black River Falls and called 9-1-1 to report the fire according to Chief Schreiber. The caller said smoke detectors were going off in the home. Everyone was safely out of the home. 

Smoke was showing from the eves and attic area when firefighters arrived. 

Fire was found in an second floor room and quickly put out. 

Investigators are still working on a damage estimate. The property was insured by the owners and renters.

Mutual aid from the Hatfield, Merrillan, and Hixton Fire Departments also assisted at the scene. 

The American Red Cross is helping the occupants of the home.

No one was injured.
