A Winona man accused of the drive-by fatal shooting of a man outside a Winona bar in July 2016 will stand trial at the end of the month.
Ricky Waiters' trial will begin January 29. The date was set at a pre-trial hearing Wednesday.
In November 2016, a grand jury indicted Waiters on two charges of first degree murder, and seven other offenses related to a shooting outside a Winona bar.
On July 27, 2016, witnesses said Waiters parked in a no-parking zone, and was approached by who told him not to park there.
As he drove off, he then is accused of firing six shots into a crowd outside EB's Corner Bar.
One person, 53-year-old Bob Johnson, was hit by the gunfire and died at the scene. Another man was also wounded.
The Winona County Attorney expects the trial to last three weeks, based on the number of witnesses the prosecution expects to call to the stand.
Throughout the 18-month legal process, Waiters has remained in the Winona County Jail.
