There was a brief change in leadership at a south side elementary school Thursday.
5th grader Maddox Herlitzke stepped into the role of principal for a day at Southern Bluffs Elementary. Maddox led school announcements and held meetings with staff including Superintendent Randy Nelson. Due to inclement weather, he also made decisions concerning whether recess should be indoors and whether to cancel after school art club for safety reasons.
"I didn't really know what was going to happen, but it's really fun," Maddox said.
Maddox won the bid to be principal at Southern Bluffs annual holiday fair. He said he could see himself being a principal full-time when he grows up.
