La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

It's a community celebration.  The Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. event at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center.  We recently spoke with two people involved in the event, Thomas Harris from the UW-La Crosse and Denise Christy Moss.  We began our conversation by asking what the event is designed to accomplish.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration is Monday, January 15 in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center.  The event begins at 7 PM.  Doors open at 6:15.  The keynote speaker is Duchess Harris whose talk is titled "Chaos or Community: 50 Years with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."  Nathaniel Coleman, Jr. will receive the MLK Leadership Award.

The event is free and open to everyone.  They ask you to bring non-perishable food items for the Hunger Task Force.
