A major donation Friday for the Trane Park Project in La Crosse.
Altra Federal Credit Union donated $75,000 to help fund the all abilities park.
The park will offer an environment for people with cognitive, sensory, or physical challenges and their families.
Park organizers say there's a real need in the community with more than 12,000 people over the age of 5 who have a disability.
Altra President and CEO Jack Peplinski says for his company, it's all about improving the lives of those in the community. "When you look at what the Trane Park is about and what's their objective and what they're trying to achieve, we felt it's going to help our members and other members in our community live their best life."
Francis Formanek, the president of the Trane Park Steering Committee, said this is a huge day for them."This is a kick off for our fundraiser. This very generous donation from Altra is going to be setting the bar for everyone else that wants to get involved and help us put this fabulous park together."
The donation helps the park reach its $6 million funding goal.
Construction of the park is scheduled to start in May with completion set for July 2019.
