A conference at the UW-La Crosse is promoting literacy among kindergarten through college students focusing on the role of the library.
The discussion is part of the second annual Conference About Libraries and Literacy, known as C.A.L.L. Keynote speaker Michael Stephens from San Jose State University writes and speaks about the value of libraries in the learning process.
Stephens says studies show that if students find the library as a valuable resource, they'll come back. But he wants to go beyond that. He wants librarians to reach out to classrooms and departments, promoting their ability to help the learning process.
