LA CROSSE, Wis, (WXOW) -

A sizable donation helps move the All Abilities Trane Park Project closer to reality.

The organization announced Thursday that they received a 'surprise' $400,000 donation from an anonymous donor.

Last month, Altra Federal Credit Union contributed $75,000 towards the $6 million project on the south side of La Crosse. Other local businesses have also contributed toward the park.

"With these donations, we are very close to the midpoint of our goal, " said Fran Formanek, Trane Park board president. "We really appreciate the generous donations that we have recently received. It is with their leadership and generosity that this project will become a reality in 2019."

The park will provide a place where people with cognitive, sensory, or physical challenges can enjoy activities with their families.

Formanek said that construction is scheduled to start in May with a completion date of July 2019.
