Many of the world's up and coming ski jumpers will once again gather in Westby to take part in the 95th Annual Snowflake Ski Jump Competition,
The competition kicks off tomorrow night but jumpers got the chance to get a feel for the hill this afternoon. Organizers expect twenty to twenty-five competitors, many from the Tri-State region, but also dozens from around the world.
Snowflake ski club member Scott Yttri says this event has an Olympic feel to it, "We had the Slovenians here last night and three of the four have never been here before. Kind of reminds them of home with the way the wind blows up the hill and gives them air. Of course with the Olympics coming up next week you will see something very similar to what you will see on TV with ski jumping" said Yttri.
Taking part in the competition will be local skier Augie Schini who says that skiing is a way for him to relax, "I just like skiing because usually, it's a time that I can just chill out with my buddies and just kind of have a little fun to take my mind off all the other things in life like school and work and stuff so its just relaxing for me and just always a good time" said Schini.
The Snowflake Ski Club invites all current and former military members to attend the event free of charge with proper identification.
