Just a day after the Dow fell 1,175 points, it closed up the next day 567 points.
But the one day drop was the biggest one day sell off ever, at least in terms of points. For perspective, though, the Dow lost 4.6%. Local analyst Brent Welch of Welshire Capital says we've seen worse. In 1987 for example, he says the Dow lost 20% in a day.
For the average investor, Welch says be patient and hang in there.
