February is heart month, and tobacco use is a significant contributor to heart disease but not only through smoking. Gundersen Health wellness education specialist Susan Lundsten discussed the dangers of smokeless tobacco Monday on Daybreak.
This week is also "Through with Chew" week in the US. Lundsten said it's a campaign to raise awareness and educate people on the dangers of chewing tobacco. Additionally, e-cigarettes and vaping devices are becoming popular, and despite not containing the tobacco, many still use nicotine which can cause attention and learning problems.
