Great Rivers United Way falls short in 2017-2018 Campaign

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

The 2017-2018 Great Rivers United Way Campaign officially ended on January 31.

The total amount of money raised fell short of the ambitious $2,085,000 goal.

Mike Klauke, the 2017-2018 Campaign Co-Chair, says thousands contributed to the $2,000,000 raised.

Coming short will result in funding cuts to partner agencies. The board will meet on February 22 to decide the specific details of what the cuts will look like.

"Yes, we're a little short, but it's still spectacular that 5,000 people roughly contributed," Klauke said. "Plus 300+ companies ran campaigns. So, yeah. We could use a little extra, but bottom line: the neighbors have really helped the neighbors this year."

There is still time to give. Great Rivers United Way is accepting donations this spring for the 2017-2018 Campaign. Donations can be submitted by phone at (608)796-1400, by sending WEWIN via text to 40403, or by visiting the Great Rivers United Way website.
