Two days after Sheriff Richard Anderson said he wasn't running for re-election, a member of Trempealeau County Sheriff's Office steps forward to replace him.
Kevin Deeren is currently a Patrol Sergeant with the sheriff's office. He's been the sheriff's office since 2015, but spent twelve years before that with the Chicago Police Department working on a team dealing with gangs, drugs, and violent crime. "I gained a lot of experience working with diverse populations and understanding the problems that each community endured,” he said.
He said he grew up in the Galesville area before moving way in his teens, but still has spent a great deal of time helping his grandfather on the family farm during vacations.
He said in a statement that while here, he saw the issues regarding drug problems in the county. He says he moved back to the county to help fight the problem.
Election for sheriff is this November.
